Andrew was born in Shepherds Bush West London. He started playing the Saxophone at the age of 16 and took private lessons at Trinity College of Music under Mr Aubrey Frank. Andrew’s music influences are works by Gene Ammons, Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Donald Byrd and Freddie Hubbard. Andrew’s main instrument is the tenor saxophone but also plays the soprano saxophone.
As a session musician, Andrew has collaborated with various bands of different genre (Reggae, Rock, Jazz, Funk) and worked for bands such as Beck, Prefab Sprout, Huey Lewis & the News to name a few. He has also performed in venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Café and Duc Des Lombards in Paris.
As a soloist, Andrew formed his own Jazz Quartet performing at venues around the world including Soho Jazz Festival, Edinburgh jazz festival, Singapore Jazz Festival, and Festival Jazz en Touraine à Montlouis-sur-Loire. He was also invited to sit in with the Late Don Cherry Quartet at the Edinburgh jazz festival.
Andrew performed in the shows such as Buddy and The Ray Charles Story and spent years touring around Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand as well as London West End.
Currently, Andrew works as a session musician and performs with his Quartet in London venues. He is also working on his forthcoming CD due to be released soon.
